Equine Reiki

Horses and animals suffer from similar illnesses to humans, as a consequence, Reiki can be used to help them too!

What can Reiki do for your horse?

Any horse can benefit from a course of Reiki treatments, regardless of whether they are a family pet or professionally bred horse, a racehorse or a showjumper, their age or state of health. Beneficial changes can take place over a fairly short space of time.

Below are some of the problems or areas that I and others have found Reiki most beneficial:

  • Physical Injuries (tendons/ ligaments etc)
  • Sweet Itch
  • Laminitis
  • Colic
  • Box walking
  • Stress, competition stress (for horse and rider!)
  • Tension, anxiety or depression
  • Performance
  • Wind sucking
  • Cribbing
  • Owner horse relationship
  • Loading problems
  • Appetite loss
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Recovery from injury or surgery

Reiki Treatments

Receiving Reiki is a simple process that doesn’t use needles or manipulation, it is a gentle non-intrusive therapy.

Firstly, I will decide whether to treat your horse whilst being held, tied up, free in the stable or over the stable door. I will either lay my hands on the horse’s body or administer the treatment from a distance, depending on how the horse wishes to receive the energy.

How might my horse react?

Horses and other animals are very intuitive and respond very well to Reiki. They are very receptive and sense the positive energy even though they don’t know what Reiki is.

The great thing about using Reiki on horses is that you can ‘see’ it working, even the flightiest of horses will most likely relax and become calm. They tend to lick their lips, lower their head and neck. Some horses will lie down to sleep. Different types of horses can react in different ways, for example youngsters may not show as many signs of relaxation during their first treatment as an older horse, however, the young horse will often lie down to sleep after the treatment when they are alone. Some horses need to get used to the Reiki energy first.

No matter what the reaction, Reiki is giving your horse what they need.

Seeing is believing, keep an open mind!

My Reiki treatments?

The effects of Reiki build up cumulatively, so it is advised to have a course of treatments to help produce long-term beneficial changes, emotionally and physically.

Each treatment usually lasts around 45 minutes and costs £35 per session, plus reasonable travel expenses.

It is generally recommended to have a course of between 4 – 6 treatments at weekly intervals.
